The method feeder is proberbly one of the newest methods around today. When using the Method, it's handy to have two groundbait mixes, one should be a stiff mix with plenty of free offerings in, whilst the second should be a looser mix with fewer freebies in. The reason for this is quite simple, when you make you bait ball around the feeder, you do it in two stages. Firstly you compress the stiffer mix onto the frame, quite hard, and then make a dent into this mix, then simply put your chosen hookbait into the indentation. Secondly you pack, quite loosly, your second mix around the first. The reason for doing this is, the outer mix should give off a few freebies and aroma, to get the fish feeding, then they should start to attack the inner ball. Do not keep striking when fishing this style, as you will get plenty of false bites/liners. Just wait for the rod to move off the rest, then gently lift into the fish, as it should have hooked itself. Also, when fishing like this, a 2 inch hooklength is ample, as anything longer can/will lead to foul hooking.

*TIP*

Dont get to big a ball of groundbait on the cage as this will impair casting and also strain the rod to much.

Rigs

i have found the best rig by far is the sliding ledger or bolt rig. This way the fish can pull on the hook link without the resitance of the weight. This method is also a safe method because if the line breaks the fish is just left with the hook which they discharge after about a hour or so, and not the complete rig.

Method mixes

You can buy special mixes for the method but some people make there own. The basis of the mix is breadcrumb. This acts as a binder as well as a good clouding bait. You can add ground pellet to this as well, abit of meat anything really just experiment with it.
